Since joining the Donetto family as executive chef in early 2019, Brian Owen has brought to the kitchen a passion for providing guests with not only a fantastic meal, but an avenue for making memories around the table. Crediting his grandmother for his love of cooking, Owen’s culinary creativity is showcased via micro-seasonal menu changes, fueled by his desire to create a familial dining experience for guests.
An Atlanta native, Owen was raised in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood and began his career in hospitality at a local sandwich shop at 15 years old. Since then, he has served at several of the city’s most notable dining destinations, including the restaurants of Andre Gomez, Kevin Rathbun, the Castellucci Hospitality Group and most recently, Kimball House in Decatur. Since joining the Donetto team, Owen has made it a goal to interpret his dishes through the lens of southeastern ingredients while presenting guests with a fun, creative take on Italian cuisine.
Owen highly values the “work family” that is created in the restaurant industry, and he leads the team at Donetto with the goal of emphasizing the unexplainable bonds formed between individuals. When he’s not helming the kitchen at Donetto, Owen resides in downtown Decatur, Ga. and enjoys art, music, traveling and dining out in his spare time.
